Government Launches Dual Initiatives to Strengthen Malta’s Agricultural Sector
The Government has launched two major initiatives to strengthen Malta’s agricultural sector and create new opportunities for young farmers.
The first is a financial incentive scheme offering €1,500 per tumolo over three years to encourage the temporary transfer of agricultural land, whether privately owned or leased from the Lands Authority, into the stewardship of Riżorsi Agrikoli Malta. This ensures the land is cultivated sustainably by established or young farmers.
The second is a pilot long term lease project, granting renewable leases of vacant government agricultural land to young farmers and new entrants. Both measures promote sustainable farming, innovation, and long term food security.
